As we gear up for the 1.12.6 release, we want to give you a heads-up on an underlying upgrade to how shared apps operate in Olares. When the update lands, AI apps installed in 1.12.5 or earlier will need to be reinstalled to function properly.
Upgrading the Shared App Infrastructure
In Olares, shared apps run as foundational background services that multiple other apps or users can connect to and utilize. This includes complete applications with built-in UIs like ComfyUI Shared, as well as the new LLM Base Engines we discussed in our previous Model Console post.
For 1.12.6, we have overhauled the underlying routing and plumbing that connects front-end applications to these shared services. This upgrade ensures better platform stability, standardizes API exposure, and provides a much cleaner way to manage application dependencies.
What this means for your current apps
Because the connection mechanism between regular applications and shared services has been fundamentally rewritten, apps running on the old 1.12.5 logic cannot automatically plug into the upgraded infrastructure.
To fix this, you will need to uninstall and reinstall your existing AI apps. Doing so injects the updated routing logic and properly hooks them into the new shared app system.
Before you uninstall, depending on the application, you might need to back up custom configurations, chat histories, or app-specific data to avoid losing your workflows. Please double-check your app settings before removing anything.
This infrastructure rewrite is essential for supporting more complex, multi-app workflows and a broader ecosystem of background services moving forward.
