Olares 1.11 Released with Installation Improvements

As we welcome the New Year, we’re celebrating an incredible milestone: Olares has crossed the 1k stars on GitHub (thank you and let’s share virtual holiday high-fives ?!). We’re humbled by your support and deeply aware of the expectations and responsibilities that come with it.

This release is particularly special because it directly addresses the challenges and frustrations you’ve shared with us. Every improvement in 1.11 comes from listening to your experiences and working to make Olares work better for you. While we’re still working on some improvements, we’re excited to share what’s ready.
For a full list of changes, check out our detailed release notes.
A smoother start with installation improvements
Getting started shouldn’t be that hard. Based on your feedback, we’ve revamped the installation process. For example:
- Added clear progress indicators so you know exactly where you are in the process
- Implemented upfront system checks to catch potential issues before they become problems
- Reduced mirror file sizes for faster downloads
- Simplified FRP configurations
That being said, more improvements are expected in future releases. We’re actively refining our command-line tool (Olares CLI) to give you more control over your installation process. Soon you’ll be able to customize your Olares setup to better match your specific needs.
Compatibility for LXC and PVE
Following community requests, Olares 1.11 added initial support for LXC and Proxmox VE. Currently, we’ve tested and verified compatibility with:
- LXC container running on Proxmox VE 8.2.2 (Debian 12)
- Direct installation on Proxmox VE 8.0
This is our first implementation, and we will continue to work on expanding support. We’d love to hear your feedback if you’re running these configurations (or not, let us know!).

Debugging just got way more easier
Remember the days of running multiple commands and juggling log files during debugging sessions? We sure do! Our new one-click log collection feature transforms that experience:
Before: “Run this command, check those logs, run that command, check more logs…” ?
Now: Click, collect, share. That’s it!??
This simple change means faster resolution times and less back-and-forth when you need support.

What’s Next?
While we’re proud of these improvements, we’re already working on more ways to make Olares better for you. Stay tuned for:
- A live demo to experience Olares
- Steam game streaming powered by Sunshine
- Support for multi-node deployments
- Integration with major cloud storage services
