Terminus 1.9.0 Released with Streamlined Terminus Name Creation

We’re thrilled to announce the release of Terminus 1.9.0!

Terminus is a free, self-hosted operating system built on Kubernetes. It converts your edge device into a true home cloud, providing powerful cloud-level capabilities while maintaining ease of use and privacy.

Create Terminus Name in seconds

Your Terminus Name is now easier than ever to set up, serving as your unique identifier and gateway to Terminus services.

Each Terminus Name is linked to a Decentralized Identifier (DID), a cryptographically verifiable identifier that doesn’t rely on any centralized authority. When you create your Terminus account, a DID is automatically generated. While DIDs offer unparalleled security and decentralization, Terminus Names act as a human-readable layer on top, offering a familiar, easy-to-remember format similar to email addresses.

Previously, we relied on Google’s OAuth process for issuing verification credentials. Now, we’ve simplified this process while maintaining security. After downloading TermiPass on your mobile device, you can choose between two creation modes:

  • Fast creation (default mode): Recommended for individual users who prefer a quick setup without binding a VC.
  • Advanced creation: Recommended for individual and organizational users that require enhanced security and more distinctive names through VC binding.

Full-text search for Files and Wise

Release 1.90 has brought global full-text search capabilities to Terminus, allowing you to search more than just applications. Here is what you can do now with Search:

The Market app within Terminus operates on a decentralized and permissionless application distribution protocol, offering an open marketplace where users can effortlessly install various applications from both Terminus and the community with a single click

  • Stable Diffusion: A state-of-the-art text-to-image generation model that allows you to create stunning visuals from textual descriptions.
