Olares v1.12.7 is now available

Olares v1.12.7 is now available.

Olares 1.12.7 expands the local AI experience with Router, Lares, and a broader model catalog. Router gives integrated applications a consistent way to access models and tools, while Lares provides a first-party agent for planning and carrying out multi-step work across apps, files, and system services. The release also highlights recent LarePass updates, five additional language options, and Ticket support.

If you have been waiting for the stable release, now is a good time to update.

What’s new in 1.12.7

A consistent model and tool interface with Router

Applications integrated with Router use its Base URL and default-chat instead of wiring directly to a specific model backend. Change the default model in Router and Router-connected applications follow that selection. Providers, API keys, quotas, and usage are managed in one place, including from the terminal with olares-cli router.

Meet Lares, the first-party Olares agent

Describe a goal and Lares can plan and carry out multi-step work—for example, researching a topic and saving structured findings, or porting an application repository and deploying it on your Olares. It calls models through Router and operates Olares through Olares Skills and the Olares CLI.

Lares handles one task at a time. New requests queue and start automatically when the current task finishes, so a long task does not block your other apps. To run Lares alongside another agent, connect them to different models.

A broader model catalog

The model catalog now extends beyond chat to speech recognition and synthesis, translation, OCR, embeddings and reranking, and image, video, and music generation, with access coordinated through Router. Notable additions include Gemma 4, Qwen3.6 and Qwen3.8, Breeze TTS 2, FireRedTTS3, Qwen3-ASR, EmbeddingGemma, Hy-MT2, Surya OCR 2, ACE-Step Music, and FlowStudio image and video apps.

LarePass: local access, translation, and Fetch

Recent LarePass updates include hosts mapping for LAN access without the VPN, a Chrome extension that translates pages through a locally hosted model, and Fetch for saving HTTP(S) files, magnets, torrents, Hugging Face repositories, and supported media directly to your Olares.

Five additional language options

French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese are now available across supported Olares experiences. Coverage rolls out per app: the browser desktop in this release supports English and Simplified Chinese, while LarePass supports all seven languages.

Before you update

If you are on v1.12.5 or earlier, upgrade to 1.12.6 first and complete its breaking-change migration. Back up any app-specific data before uninstalling affected apps. The 1.12.6 update guide: What to do after updating to Olares 1.12.6 | Olares Docs

After updating, install Router and Lares from Market, add a local model (Qwen3.8-27B is a good start), and complete your first task with Lares.

How to update

  1. Update LarePass to the latest version.
  2. Open LarePass and go to Settings > System > System update.
  3. Check for the new version and tap Update.
  4. After the success message appears, refresh your Olares desktop before continuing.
